About StaffingLedger

Who this is for

StaffingLedger is built for owners, operators, branch leaders, and financially responsible managers at U.S. staffing and recruiting agencies, especially smaller and mid-sized firms where the owner or a senior operator is still directly involved in pricing, hiring, funding, client acceptance, and growth decisions.

Why staffing economics are unusually hard

A staffing agency runs payroll every week, whether or not the client has paid the invoice yet. That's the payroll-before-payment problem: you can win a genuinely profitable contract and still run out of cash funding it, because the gap between when you pay a worker and when a client pays you has to be financed by someone, usually the agency itself. Layer on VMS/MSP program fees, factoring or line-of-credit costs, and employer burden that doesn't scale the way people assume, and a plain markup calculator stops being useful. Decisions that look simple, like whether to accept a client's Net 60 terms, or hire another recruiter, or discount a rate for volume, involve real cash and margin tradeoffs that are easy to get wrong by feel.

Why a transparent decision tool helps

Every StaffingLedger engine shows the full math: the inputs, the formula, the intermediate numbers, and the assumptions behind them, not just a final answer. Where a scenario misses a target, the engine looks for the actual lever that would close the gap, whether that's the bill rate, the funding structure, or the fill rate, instead of just flagging the number as bad. The goal is a tool an owner can trust because they can see exactly how it got its answer, not a black box.

What this is not

StaffingLedger is not a resume or interview-prep site, not a job board, not a generic HR or workforce-scheduling tool, and not a source of legal, tax, or employment-law advice. It does not provide state-by-state regulatory guidance or formal credit or valuation decisions. See the Disclaimer for the full scope, and Methodology for exactly how the engines compute their numbers.
